On Radio: Scott's first radio show lasted but one episode, being cancelled by the university which he attended for "thoughtlessness." Several years later, he got another radio show; this one on WLVL AM 1340. "Dialog" focused on a variety of topics from local, state and national politics, to social issues and examining the daily news - mainly in Lockport and Niagara County. It ran on WLVL for nearly seven years. Concurrently with Dialog, Scott hosted a second talk show on Hometown 1230, WECK, called "Reason". It dealt more with Erie County and was a much more laid back show. Since December, 2002, Leffler has interviewed people ranging from local politicians to presidential candidates on WNY radio. His political interviewees have included frequent presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche, former Libertarian presidential candidates Michael Badnarik and Bob Barr, Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb and Michael Peroutka, presidential candidate from the Constitutional party. He's interviewed authors Dean Koontz, Alan Moore (V for Vendetta), and Nelson DeMille - cartoonist Wiley Miller - comedians John Ratzenberger, Terry Jones and Bill Engvall - Sheriff Joe Arpaio , Jake LaMotta and even Santa Claus. Leffler is different from other talk show hosts in the Buffalo market in two ways. First, he deals more with local issues than with the national "hotbutton drivel" many hosts talk about ad-nauseum. Second, Leffler takes a critical look - not just at Democrats, which radio talk show hosts are famous for hating, but also at Republicans. |
