Thomas Kent “T.K.” Carter, the dynamic character actor and comedian best known for his scene-stealing roles in The Thing and Punky Brewster, died on January 9, 2026, at his home in Duarte, California. He was 69.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Carter began his career as a stand-up comic, a background that informed the sharp wit he brought to Hollywood. He became a fan favorite as Nauls, the roller-skating cook in John Carpenter’s 1982 horror classic The Thing, and endeared himself to millions as the kindly teacher Mike Fulton on the sitcom Punky Brewster.
