Lord of the Flies: A Zombie Story by Dane Hatchell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
One of the things that I like about most Zombie stories is that they’re short. And this definitely fit that description. At a mere 23 pages, this story was a breeze … and well done.
“Lord of the Flies: A Zombie Story” is exactly what you’d expect. A group of kids on an “island” (which in this case was a farm somewhere) acting as a group of kids without parents might act. There’s zombies on the other side of the barbed wire fence … and one in the basement, who happened to have been their “Paw.”
It’s the first book I’ve ready by Dane Hatchell, but a quick look at his profile on Goodreads tells me that he’s got several other books. Some about Zombies. Some about dinosaurs. I like both those things so I’ll probably check him out again when I’m looking for a quick read.
I don’t know that I’d be quite so happy with the book if I had paid for it, but as it’s on Kindle Unlimited, it was essentially free to read — as a great many Zombie books seem to be. And it was worth double the price. Maybe more.
