News:
Monday: Regular listeners on WLVL know that Monday’s mean Bob Confer’s Albany Update. Now WECK listeners will have a regular Monday guest, as well. WGRZ’s Matt Pearl will join me every Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. to talk some news, some sports, and treat us to some inside baseball from the Channel 2 newsroom. Check Matt’s blog out. Good stuff.
Monday evening, Brad Riter will conduct a live remote from New Era’s flagship store on Delaware in Buffalo. UB’s Turner Gill will be there as well to unveil a new hat marking the football teams MAC championship. I’ll probably pop in on that … and then head over to the Sabres game to watch the Sabres take on the Pens.
Tuesday: On both WLVL and WECK, we’ll wrap up the year. These will be my last live shows from 2008 … as I’ll be on vacation until Jan. 2, 2009. So what will you remember about 2008? Call in with your thoughts.
Notes:
Once I returned from my holiday vacation, I’ll also be returning to a feature I used to have on WLVL … although with some adjustments. Music Friday’s returns to WNY’s airwaves on January 2nd … with music by WNY band “Serenity Falls,” and an interview with two of the artists in the band. While Music Fridays had previously meant live music from the bands, that had it’s drawbacks at times. Frankly, some bands that sound great on CD, didn’t sound as good live. Also there were several last-minute cancellations. Playing tracks off a CD, should fix both those problems.
I’ve booked Serenity Falls for the first show … but I haven’t booked anything past that. Are you in a band or know a band that A) is good and B) would like the exposure? Have them get ahold of me. Maybe we’ll get ’em in on Music Friday … now Friday’s at 10:30 a.m. on Hometown 1230, WECK.
Necessities: To create the Christmas card above, I needed a decent image editing application. But it also needed to be free. Paint.net is a fairly robust program for the price (nada). It’s not Photoshop … but it’s also not Microsoft Paint.
