TULSA, Okla. — If you give a cat a dollar it will ask for more … and donate it to the homeless.
Such is the story of Sir Whines a Lot, aka Cashnip Kitty, who grabs dollar bills from those who offer money through a slot in the door of marketing firm GuRuStu.
When the cat’s owner, Stuart McDaniel, who also owns GuRuStu, learned locals were using cash to play with him, he and his colleagues decided to put the funds to good use.
McDaniel told ABC News, “I get a call from my dad saying, ‘Why is there money on the floor at the office? There’s at least $5 on the floor near the glass, where you can slip it through … My mom and sister [and I], we figured if people are doing it already we might as well apply it for something good in the community.”
While the identity of the first “donor,” is unknown, they inadvertently started a campaign. Putting his marketing hat on, McDaniel and his firm published funny videos on their Facebook page of locals offering money to the cat.
A sign was posted to the door warning people that “Kitty will snatch your money if you slide it through the door slot.” It adds that donations are sent to the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.
